Girihandu Seya

The Girihandu Seya Stupa Is Located In Thiriyaya Intrincomalee District  Of Eastern Province , Sri Lanka. According To The Legend, This Is The Stupa Mentioned In The Story Of Thapassu And Balluka Two Traders. As Such, It Is Considered To Be The First Stupa Built By Enshrining The Relic Of Lord Buddha And Probably It Was Built Around 528 B.C.

The Stupa Was Originally A Small In Size And Had Been Renovated In The 8th Century A.D. The Vatadage Encircling Stupa Was Built During The Renovation.

Kanniya Hot Water Wells
As Usual, Hot Water Wells Are Crowded. There Were Limited Common Buckets, So If You Are Planning To Have A Bath, Better To Bring Your Own Bucket. Using Soap Is Prohibited. There Are Separate Changing Rooms Are Provided For Ladies And Gents.


Kinniya New Bridge

Kinniya New Bridge Is Currently The Longest Bridge In Sri Lanka. This Was Build With The Donation From Saudi Arabia And Opened To Public In 20th October 2009. Kinniya Bridge Is 10 Meters Wide And 495 Meters In Length.

This Bridge Replace The Old Ferry Service Operated Through The Kinniya Lagoon. Still You Can See The Old Abandoned Ferry By A Side. This Ferry Used To Operate From The Morning To Late Evening And Carry Both Passengers And Vehicles. One Of The Noticeable Thing Was That It Has A Separate Control Station, Which Is Located Few Feet Above The Deck.
